Recently my parents’ itouchless garbage lid stopped opening automatically and I was wondering if there might be a possible fix for this. I tried to find videos online but didn’t have luck. Basically it seems the sensor works but the lid won’t open; it makes a noise like it’s trying but can’t . I suspect it’s the motor but not sure how to fix this easily.
I’d rather fix it than them having to buy a new one.
Это хороший вопрос?

that's okay i just really confused and thought it was my autocorrect
Has this thing got a brand name and model number?
It's called an Itouchless garbage can not sure what the model number is.
i checked the 'parts' section of their website and i think it's the IT13MX model. They don't have very many models it seems
Sounds like the sensor may have gone out. Here's a replacement lid for it:

The plastic hinge that connects lid to the motor is broken.
I just went through the exact same frustration. Check underneath the on/off switch. Just flip a couple times to off/on. Bingo was the problem. Works like new👍
The vast majority of times it just needs to be turned off for no less than 5 minutes. Give that a try, nothing to lose.

I'll try that. It's been turned off for several days. I had just put in new batteries. No apparent power at all now.
The lid on bin was not working. I decided to switch the power off by using the switch at the back of the lid. After 10 minutes the switch was turned on and to my surprise the lid started working again. Problem solved.
I tried cleaning the lid, especially around the sensor but to no avail. I tried changing the batteries. I tried turning off the back switch for 10min. I can still see the red and green lights from the sensor blink, so I think it must be the motor that is no longer working. I’ve had my sensorcan for more than 3 years so it’s no longer in warranty. They don’t make things to last. I guess it’s time to buy a new one :(
with mine, if you can hear the motor still operating, lift the lid and on the hinge you will see 2 crosshead screws (if the same as mine) remove the black plastic plate and you will see 2 black plastic L shaped spacers which secure the lid to the rotating spindle, nime had just popped out push them back into their slots on the pivot and you will also see 2 location mouldings on the inside of the plate you first removed.. make sure they line up and secure the spacers when you refit the plate and screw it back on. and presto! a working lid.
I'm constantly having this problem. I've changed batteries so much, turned it on and off, cleaned the inside but to no avail. I've even seen the batteries with this milky solution on them and I haven't had it for a year.
I dismantled the lid and found corrosion around the plug on the circuit board but one of the pins has snapped off or corroded away, I'm going to see if Morphy Richard's will send me the necessary parts to repair it myself as it's not even a year old.
Dont ever be too afraid to take something apart to see WHY it's broken, what have you got to lose? it's broken anyway! & putting it back together is just the reverse of what you did to take it apart! if you're getting older, it keeps your brain active, hones your memory skills, keeps your joints working, great for nimble fingers & dexterity, makes you concentrate and focus better, trains your eyesight to work a little bit harder, and it keeps you busy giving you something to do, once you get into it & realise you CAN do a lot more than you realised, it gives you a sense of purpose! even if it STILL doesnt work afterwards! didnt you enjoy the challenge.

Ok so I took everything apart (literally everything!lol) and it will close but it won’t open.. I see the motor working to open but there’s no power it looks like when I push the open button.
Not many parts available to repair these bad boys. I have a similar problem with my trash can and determined that the electrical controller was bad but you cannot get that part and could not get technical info on the part. The OEM fix is to replace the entire lid at nearly half the cost of a new one!
